Hi Secret Shoppers!

Any advice on how to get started from your experience?

Did everyone have to take the exams and pay the $10 for a certificate?

Looking forward to this journey!

Welcome Brittany!

From my experience, getting started doesn't necessarily require taking exams or paying for a certificate. My advice would be for you to explore the opportunities available in your area and carefully read the guidelines for the ones you are interested in. Certain shops will require you to go through a course and then take an exam, but that will be clearly noted. I personally started with the Shopping Scout certification and didn't pay for any additional certificates.

You should always make sure you're comfortable with the Mystery Shopping Provider's (MSP) requirements and expectations before requesting a shop. Pay close attention to their payment policy, as some MSPs have longer processing times before you receive payment.

I am also relatively new, having only been at this for less than two months, but I haven't encountered any issues so far.

Hope you enjoy getting started!

Yo. What's up everyone. I'm a Newbee shopper. How's everybody doing? Any pointers to get new shops for me? It's been 5 days and no shops. HELP?

Getting assigned shops will depend on your location; (Smaller cities will have fewer than major cities) so you may need to expand your distance on the map a little. As for badges, they just show up when you complete shops based on the type of shop you end up taking. As for which shops to take just as Sarelli said, pay attention to their payment terms and make sure you know what's expected of you for that shop but most important is start with something you're comfortable with first and then once your reputation grows a bit you can afford to take one or two you're not comfortable with.
